NATURAL ARCHITECTURE - GREEN BUILDING
in Belluno, Feltre, North Veneto and Dolomites Area

Not all materials are created equal. Our experience in the restoration of historic buildings has taught us one thing: it is essential to use natural and simple materials and techniques as much as possible. We have observed how certain products negatively impact the vital balance of these ancient buildings, which struggle to tolerate the indiscriminate use of trendy materials that are synthetic and laden with additives, leading us to question their relationship with people as well. For this reason, we began researching and training in natural design and construction techniques, establishing fruitful collaborations with certifiers and builders in the field of green architecture.

BIOCLIMATIC ARCHITECTURE

The starting point is to look around: the surroundings reveal the climate, and the oldest buildings show us what measures to take. The building envelope thus becomes a microclimate machine, casting shade in the summer and letting in the sun in the winter, using nighttime breezes to cool the space by trapping them, and illuminating the spaces with natural light.

GREEN BUILDING

Without getting carried away, without taking risks, let’s replace all those synthetic and additive-laden products with simpler, more traditional ones. For example, instead of a cement-based plaster loaded with fluidizing additives, setting additives, coloring additives, and so on—why not use a clay plaster? The result may be the same aesthetically, but in terms of the livability of that space, it’s light-years apart.

WOODEN HOUSES AND BRICK HOUSES

Many people today are looking for a wooden house, believing it to be more “natural” than a brick house. This is not always the case: there are well-designed wooden houses and poorly designed wooden houses, just as there are well-designed brick houses and poorly designed brick houses. It all comes down to the choice of materials, the construction of the walls, and the measures taken to ensure comfort and well-being inside the home. There is no single “best” construction system; rather, there is a best construction system for each specific case, and this is where the value of design independent of construction becomes evident: the firm does not propose its own house model or construction system, but creates the ideal house model for the client, incorporating all the necessary features to achieve the goal of a healthy and comfortable home at the right price.
